Costco Mastercard help

CIBC Costco Mastercard login: how to sign in, and what to check once you do

Where to sign in safely, how to fix the most common problems, and the four things worth checking on your account each year.

Step by step

How to sign in to your CIBC Costco Mastercard

  1. Step 1

    Go to cibc.com yourself

Type cibc.com into your browser or use a bookmark. Don’t sign in from a link in an email or text message.

  2. Step 2

Choose “Sign On” for Online Banking

The CIBC Costco Mastercard is managed through CIBC Online Banking, the same place as other CIBC credit cards.

  3. Step 3

Use your card number or CIBC login

First time? Register for Online Banking with your card number, then create a password.

  4. Step 4

Or use the CIBC Mobile Banking app

Download it from the App Store or Google Play (check the publisher is CIBC) and sign in with the same details.

On a phone, the CIBC app is usually faster than the website and supports fingerprint or face sign-in.

Troubleshooting

Can’t sign in? Common fixes

I forgot my password

Use “Forgot password” on the CIBC sign-on page. CIBC will verify your identity before you set a new one.

My account is locked

Too many failed attempts lock the account. Call the number on the back of your card; CIBC can unlock it after verifying you.

My new card isn’t activated

Activate it through Online Banking, the CIBC app, or the phone number on the sticker on your new card.

My old Capital One Costco login doesn’t work

The Costco Mastercard in Canada moved from Capital One to CIBC in 2022, so Capital One logins no longer manage it. Sign in at cibc.com instead.

I want the site in French

CIBC Online Banking and the app are available in French: switch to “Français” on the sign-on page or in the app settings.

I need to make a payment or see a statement

Both are in Online Banking and the app once you’re signed in. Statements are usually under the card’s account details.

I need to talk to someone

Call the number on the back of your card. We don’t list phone numbers here because scam sites often publish fake ones.

Watch for lookalike sites. Search ads and emails sometimes lead to fake sign-in pages. Check the address bar shows cibc.com before you enter anything.

Once you’re in

Four things worth checking on your account

Most cardholders only sign in to pay the bill. These take five minutes and can be worth more than the card’s rewards.

Your cash back so far this year

Rewards are paid once a year as a Costco gift certificate with your January statement. Check the running total in CIBC Online Banking or the CIBC Mobile Banking App.

Whether you’re leaving money on the table

If most of your spending isn’t at Costco or on gas, a different Mastercard may earn more everywhere else.

Foreign transaction fees

Useful before a trip: check the fee on purchases in other currencies, or use a no-FX card abroad.

Executive Membership math

If you also pay for Executive Membership, make sure its reward plus your card rewards cover the extra fee.
