The best business credit card in Canada for Costco is usually the $0 CIBC Costco Business Mastercard: 3% at Costco gas and restaurants and 2% on Costco.ca and costcobusinesscentre.ca, each on up to $8,000 a year. Costco warehouses and Business Centres take only Mastercard in store, and none of the other business Mastercards we checked has a Costco category.

If you're looking for the best business credit card Canada offers for buying at Costco, it's usually the CIBC Costco Business Mastercard: $0, 3% at Costco gas and restaurants, 2% on Costco.ca and costcobusinesscentre.ca orders and 1% in the warehouse, with each bonus category capped at $8,000 a year. It also has to be a Mastercard: Costco warehouses and Business Centres don't take Visa or Amex at the till. Which business cards work at Costco Business Centre?
In the warehouse or Business Centre, Mastercard (any bank), debit and Costco Shop Cards. Online Business Centre orders take Mastercard, Visa and Shop Cards, and delivery orders can be paid by business cheque to the driver; see paying for Business Centre orders.
That rules out most big-bank business cards for in-store use. Scotiabank's, CIBC's other, TD's and Desjardins' business cards are all Visa, and RBC's Avion business cards are Visa too: fine for online orders, useless at the till.

How much does each earn for a business that buys at Costco?
Sample data: a small business spending $3,000 a month at a Business Centre or warehouse, $400 on Costco gas, $300 on restaurants, $500 on costcobusinesscentre.ca orders and $1,000 on everything else ($62,400 a year).

The Costco card wins because its bonus categories line up with what a Costco-buying business spends on, and RBC's $650 cap bites at about $65,000 a year. National Bank's points card would need each point to be worth about 1.04 cents to match it after the fee, and its page doesn't say what a point is worth; ask the issuer how points convert before you choose one.
What about the CIBC Costco Business Mastercard's limits?
Every bonus category on the Business card, restaurants included, stops at $8,000 of purchases a year, then earns 1%. The warehouse itself is 1% with no cap. A business buying mostly in the warehouse earns about the same 1% on any card, so the Costco card's edge comes from gas, restaurants and online orders. The personal card's restaurant rate is uncapped; see Business vs personal Costco Mastercard.

Which business card should you get?
- You buy at Costco or a Business Centre most weeks: the CIBC Costco Business Mastercard. It's free, works in store, and pays the most on Costco gas, restaurants and online orders.
- You spend heavily outside Costco too: pair it with a flat-rate card for everything else, and keep Costco on the Costco card.
- You're in Alberta: ATB MyBusiness Rewards is a free 1% backup; read its cardholder agreement for any cap.
- You want a Visa for online orders and suppliers: fine, but it won't work at the Business Centre till.
